The two tools cover different work, and most people end up owning both. A roller handles the big muscles — quads, hamstrings, glutes, lats, upper back. It is much worse at single points, which is where the Beastie comes in: a dense knot, the spot under a shoulder blade, an attachment at the edge of the hip.
