WHAT THE BUMPS ACTUALLY DO

They move tissue

High-profile bumps move soft tissue better than a flat surface can. A smooth cylinder presses tissue flat against itself; a bump displaces it.

Tissue has somewhere to go

Large spaces between the bumps give displaced soft tissue room to move, instead of compressing it against itself.

Firm, but not rigid

Using harder rollers or PVC pipe is not enough. Inflexible surfaces do not work well around bones. Ours flex where they need to.

What research supports

Studies on foam rolling show gains in range of motion and reduced post-exercise soreness, without the loss of force that static stretching can cause.

Convenience!

Used to keep a socket wrench in the car to dig into my upper back when it would hurt and knot up. This is much better. Doesn't exactly substitute for a roller, but it can be used on the ground and against a wall. I had a roller, but I really just need that deep pressure into the spot that's aggravating in my back.

If you're not hardcore, this is not for you

I bought this back in 2022 and didn't really use it much. I took it out again recently, and I don't really know why I stopped. This is great. I use it mostly for my feet. It is painful, but feels really good. You can do it while watching tv and it provides so much relief. It's also great for getting those hard to reach shoulder areas. If you do not like painful massages, this is not for you. This is for the hardcore!

Which firmness should I start with?

For most people, including professional athletes, the Original is the right answer. The jeopardy of going too firm is that it may be too painful — not too painful to use, but too painful to use correctly. Move up when the Original stops registering, not before.

What is the difference between the Gator and the Original?

The Gator uses a thinner layer of foam over the core with a lower-profile texture. That makes the surface firmer than the Original while reaching less deeply into tissue. It is built for places where tissue is thin and bone is close — hips, the bottom of the feet, triceps, lower calf. The Original is built for bulky muscle.

Which size should I get?

The 31-inch Full Size supports your whole body and is the easiest to use lying down. The 22-inch Mid Size covers most of the same work and fits a gym bag. The 12-inch Compact is for travel and targeted work on smaller areas.

Will the bumps flatten out over time?

No. The bumps permanently retain their shape and resiliency. Each roller is built around a solid core of very resilient high-density EVA foam.

Is it supposed to be uncomfortable?

Some discomfort is normal, especially on tight areas and in the first few sessions. Sharp pain is not. Ease off, use less body weight, or move to a lower-depth tool. If you have persistent or severe pain, numbness, radiating pain, a recent injury, or you are recovering from surgery, talk to a licensed healthcare provider before using any self-massage tool.
